UAE chairs 5th meeting of Working Group for Stabilisation of Counter-ISIL-Coalition

BERLIN, 29th May, 2016 (WAM) -- The UAE and German have co-chaired the fifth meeting of Working Group for Stabilisation of Counter-ISIL-Coalition. Faris Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Assistant Foreign Minister for Security and Military Affairs chaired the UAE delegation in the meeting. The participants discussed the latest developments and restoring stability to the liberated areas from Daesh, and training of Iraqi police and the role of women. They also tackled the latest developments in mine clearance and efforts of the UN Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilisation (FFIS). In this regard, the UAE announced a donation of AED 36.7 million to support the FFIS' efforts, especially for reconstruction and rehabilitation projects that support the restoration of stability in Iraq. The meeting also witnessed the participation of representatives from the humanitarian sector for the first time, as they reviewed the expected scenarios of Mosul liberation process and emergency humanitarian aid plans. The UAE expressed its concern on the role of the popular crowd in Iraq to liberate areas under the control of Daesh forces.
