UAE, Congo sign air transport services agreement

DUBAI, 1st June 2016 (WAM) -- The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have signed and initiated an agreement on air transport services. The agreement was signed by Omar bin Ghalib, Deputy Director General of the GCAA, while the advisor of Minister of Transport and Channels of Communication of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, signed on behalf of Congo in the presence of representatives local airlines and UAE national carriers. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director of the GCAA said the open skies agreement is in line with the authority's policy to enhance bilateral air transport relations which would contribute to finding more operational opportunities to national airlines and promote and encourage economic cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries. Capt. Khalid Humaid Al Ali, Director of Air Transport Department in the GCAA indicated that agreement came after continuous coordination with civil aviation authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo for more than six years to meet the requirements of the UAE's national carriers and to reflect the investment opportunities in the air transport between the two sides. - Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates-international/1395296177794.html
