UAE-Egyptian military co-operation discussed

CAIRO, 9th February, 2016 (WAM) – Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and his accompanying delegation, who are visiting Cairo, met, separately, with Minister of Defence and Military Production of Egypt, Lt. General Sedki Sobhi and the Chief of Staff of Armed Forces of Arab Republic of Egypt, Lt. General Mahmoud Hegazy. During the two meetings, they discussed co-operation between the two countries especially in the military, fighting terrorism and restoring security and stability in the Middle East region in the light of the partnership between the two countries in a number of fields. While meeting with Egypt's Minister of Defence, Al Rumaithi expressed the UAE people's pride at the role being played by the Egyptian Armed Forces to lay the foundations of security and stability in the region. They also tackled the joint visions and efforts towards various issues regarding the strategic partnership ties and joint work between the two fraternal countries. Meanwhile, Hegazy confirmed the Egyptian Armed Forces' keenness on enhancing co-operation in domains and pillars of the Arab common work to address the current challenges that represent a threat to the peoples of the region. He also highlighted the strong and strategic Egyptian-UAE ties in a number of fields. On his part, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces hailed the UAE-Egyptian military co-operation and continued co-ordination to combat various risks and threats faced by the region.
