UAE youth delegation takes part in UN General Assembly

NEW YORK, 10th October, 2016 (WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates has urged the international community to give due care and importance to young people and to promote their participation in the overall development process. In a statement before the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee on "Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues", Mohammad Rafee and Amna Al Suwaidi, representing UAE youth, said, "The youth of the UAE believes that the best way to achieve sustainable development, peace and security in communities lies in the integration of young people into the community, taking into account their concerns and involving them in the overall development process." They explained that the empowerment of young people and providing them with appropriate support is not only a way to protect them from poverty, extremism and other challenges, but also it is the optimal solution to invest the young energies. Rafee and Al Suwaidi said that they considered providing young people with good quality education and vocational training, along with decent work, is of the utmost importance to empower them and enhance their independence. In their statement, they highlighted the latest initiatives pursued by the UAE to enable young Emiratis by launching dedicated workshops to act as an interactive platform to discuss the most important topics related to youth and their aspirations along with the challenges they face in order to find practical and innovative solutions.
