UN Official Welcomes Iran’s Decision To Release Several Prisoners

New York, Sept 21, IRNA – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Council Ms. Navi Pillay welcomed Iran’s humanitarian act to release a number of prisoners. This was announced in the United Nations by UN secretary general spokesman Martin Nesirky talking to reporters on Friday. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, in his meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif here on Thursday, appreciated President Rohani governments effort in releasing a number of prisoners. Referring to his visit to Tehran last year and consultation with Iranian officials concerning human rights, Ban Ki-moon said women rights in Iran is being observed in a good level, and we should appreciate Iran’s new government./end
