UN RECEIVES NEW BUILDING IN UB

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A ceremony took place Friday to receive a new building of the United Nations office in Ulaanbaatar. The building has been erected with a capital from the state budget. A document on transferring the UN’s building was signed by Ms Sezin Sinanoglu, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Mongolia, and by Mr L.Bold, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Mongolia joined the UN on October 27 of 1961, becoming the 101st member of the UN. This was one of the biggest achievements of Mongolia in its 20th century. Thanks to becoming the UN member, the country got great opportunities to join the UN specialized organizations and international treaties. As of present, Mongolia has joined some 70 international and regional intergovernmental organizations. Between 1963 and 2003, the UN and its specialized organizations rendered aid of some 260 million US dollars to Mongolia.
