UN To Settle Myanmar Crisis Through Negotiation

New York, July 25, IRNA – UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, by issuing a statement, condemned Muslims massacre in Myanmar and said UN is trying to settle current crisis through negotaition. UN Deputy Spokesman Eduardo Del Buey told IRNA that UN has insistently asked Myanmar officials to stop violation and try to find a solution through talks. The spokesman did not answer another question concerning recent statement of Myanmar president that the Muslims are not citizens of the country and should be sent to the labor camps. Concerning extensive arrests of the Muslims in Myanmar, the spokesman said that the UN is considering this issue but he cannot give any comments until clarification of the situation. In spite of killing of hundreds of Muslims in Myanmar, the UN Security Council has kept silent so far. During past month, because of police and security forces and Buddhist radical groups violence, hundreds of Muslims in Myanmar were killed, thousands were disappeared and hundreds of thousands displaced./end
