Upcoming Azerbaijani presidential elections in Pakistani spotlight

Baku, April 10, AZERTAC The presidential elections to be held in Azerbaijan on April 11 have been broadly highlighted by the Pakistani media. Leading Pakistani media outlets, including Daily Times, Pakistan Observer and Associated Press of Pakistan have disseminated news about the election, hailing the high level preparations to the forthcoming presidential elections. The Pakistani media hailed the organization of the election, noting more than 5641 polling stations will be operating in presidential elections and 20 per cent of them are equipped with 1000 web cameras to let internet users watch the ballot live. Azerbaijani citizens believe that the upcoming presidential election means beginning of a new era of development and prosperity in the country, said an article published by the Associated Press of Pakistan. The Pakistani media outlet cited Chairman of the Party of Democratic Reforms, Asim Mollazade, who said: " We will be witnessing free and fair elections on April 11.” “Azerbaijan is keeping pace with European countries in conduct of elections. The world community shows great interest in Azerbaijan and keeps the upcoming presidential election in the spotlight,” Mollazade said. He stressed that political parties and candidates involved in the election may freely convey their platforms to the public. “Those who are not involved in elections were also provided with the opportunity to freely express their views which means protection of democratic principles. We will be witnessing free and fair elections on April 11," he noted. The Associated Press of Pakistan reported that during a visit to different places, common citizens told APP that prudent policies of President Ilham Aliyev have put the country on right path, hoping his win again in election on April 11 would mean consistency in policies and more foreign investment.
