US Congressman: Both Parties In Favor Of Talks With Iran

New York, Aug 11, IRNA – US congressman David Price has said a number of representatives from both US political parties are in favor of talks with Iran. A member of the Democratic Party, Price is one of the two initiators of a bipartisan letter circulating in the US House of Representatives urging President Barack Obama to consider talks with Iran's new government. The letter was spearheaded by Charlie Dent and Price. It had garnered 131 signatures by Friday end of day, more than a quarter of the House. The bulk of the signatories are Democrats, but 18 Republicans have signed on as well. Prices comments were made while he was answering a list of IRNA's questions on Iran-US ties. He refused to appear in an interview with IRNA. Price said significant potentials exist for Tehran-Washington regional cooperation as both capitals have interests in the Middle East region. He reiterated that it would be a big mistake if President Obama administration missed the chance of resolving the nuclear dispute with Iran following the election of President Hassan Rohani. Price said that the letter of 131 US congressmen to President Obama has indicated huge support of both political parties in the US congress for dealing with Iran in a diplomatic way. He also expressed hope that Obama would accept the ideas discussed in the letter and would move towards reaching a practical agreement with Iran./end
