US Drone Kills 4 In NW Pakistan

Islamabad, May 27, IRNA – A U.S. spy aircraft fired missiles into Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region, early Saturday, killing at least four people, residents said. Two other people were injured in U.S. drone strike, the third in the same region in less than a week. Tribesmen said that the unmanned aircraft targeted a house in Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan. Two missiles were fired at the house and the house, completely destroying the building. There was no report about the identity of those killed. This is the third U.S. drone strike in North Waziristan in four days and 15 in Pakistan this year. Nearly 112 people have been killed in these attacks. Pakistan opposes U.S. drone strikes, describing it as a serious violation of its sovereignty and a contrary to international laws. The United States insists that it is an effective to eliminate militants, who are blamed for cross-border attacks into Afghanistan. Amnesty International in a recent report called for halt to the U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan, terming it illegal./end
