US Facing Big Test Regarding Iran

Tehran, Oct 1, IRNA – The United States is currently facing a big test regarding how to deal with Iran under mounting pressures of war mongers, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said Tuesday. She called on Washington to adopt a realistic approach towards Iran and speak to Iranians with respect. Afkham made the remarks while commenting on recent meeting between the US President Barack Obama and the Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington where the latter called for a credible military threat to pressure Iran while Obama insisted, We take no options off the table, including military one.” Netanyahu visited White House three days after President Obama and President Rohani spoke on phone in the highest-level contact between the two countries in more than three decades. The call added hopes for resolving Iran's decade-old nuclear standoff with the West. “We should see how President Obama can resist against pressures of war mongers,” Afkham said while speaking to reporters at her weekly press conference. “The more Washington resisted against negative propaganda and pressures of war mongers, the more interaction with the US, aimed at moving towards constructive steps, would be,” she noted. She predicted that the Zionist regime would mount its anti-Iran pressures and propaganda as it fears that Tehran’s moderate policies would be accepted by the international community and that Israel would be more isolated. Most of the world analysts believe that the Zionist regime’s policy of exerting pressure has become old-fashioned, Afkham said, stressing that what matters to Tehran is that how much resistance Washington would show against those pressures./end
