US-led Propaganda Campaign Against Iran Must End: Ex-minister

Islamabad, Nov 20, IRNA – Pakistani former information minister on Saturday said that US-led propaganda campaign against Iran must come to an end. Talking to IRNA, Muhammad Ali Durrani Senator of Pakistan Muslim League-Q said that peaceful nuclear technology is Iran’s democratic right and there is no justification to express concerns in this regards. He added that western moves to isolate Iran will fail. “Iranian leadership has been assuring west that their nuclear program is peaceful so we have no reason to doubt over their statements,” he said. The politician added there is no evidence available against peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program so far. Iran being the signatory of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) can use nuclear energy for peaceful means. The US and west have been suspecting on Iran’s nuclear program saying that Iran is trying to build an atomic bomb. Muhammad Ali Durrani was of the view that there is no other view to that west is following discriminatory policies against Muslim world especially Iran. “There is a constant propaganda campaign going on to defame Muslim states,” he noted. The politician opined Iran should be encouraged to acquire peaceful nuclear technology that can be used in making medicines and power generation. “Baseless propaganda against Iran must come to an end,” said former minister. He said they (west) are trying to corner Muslim world and create an atmosphere of confrontation. “Yes, Iran is a responsible country and would stand by its commitment over nuclear program,” he said confidently. He said International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has, so far, failed to come up with concrete and convincing proof that Iran is making the bomb, the entire case against Iran seems to have been based on assumptions, propaganda, and piecing together some not so solid pieces of evidence. Muhammad Ali Durrani opined that the strategy of pressurization and coercion rarely produce desired results. The politician added that Iran has been cooperating with the IAEA and following the international law regarding its nuclear program. Iran's permanent representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltanieh has said the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano has committed a historic mistake in his latest report on Iran which needs reconsideration. Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaee has said the United States was using the UN Security Council and the IAEA as tools to exercise animosity against the Islamic Republic of Iran./end
