US Peace Activists Sign Petition In Support Of Iran’s Nuclear Program

New York, Jan 14, IRNA – Peace activists and members of the “Occupy Wall Street Movement” voiced their support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear program in a petition they signed in protest to American policies and inhuman sanctions against Iran. In a ceremony attended by the famous US anti-war figure Ramzi Clarck, they also voiced the views of members of the “99 percent” on talks between Iran and the 5+1 and backed Iran’s nuclear program which is for peaceful purposes. The petition further called for removal of anti-Iran sanctions which the protesters described as an inhuman measure damaginh lives of millions of ordinary Iranian citizens. It said sanctions imposed on Iran by the US and other western countries were in fact punitive measures adopted against the Iranian nation as they have chosen independence and freedom from the dominance of the superpowers. It further termed as baseless all issues raised by the West against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, saying that talks between Iran and the 5+1 were in fact a conversation between the oppressor and the oppressed who was to protect its own rights. The activists also called on the US government to stop threatening the Iranian nation with war, remove its hegemonic sanctions against the country and respect Iran’s right for uranium enrichment and for the use of nuclear energy./end
