US president-elect would act ‘based on realities’

TEHRAN, Nov. 23 (MNA) – Head of AEOI said US president-elect Donald Trump would soften his campaign rhetoric once he took the office regarding the JCPOA. Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of a conference on Tuesday, believed that implementation of JCPOA had been in the right track, with only mild slowdown in removal of sanctions where major banks would refrain from cooperating with Iran; “the Foreign Ministry should address this slowdown,” he added. “I predict that no special difficulties would rise in the whole process, contrary to what many would assume, especially after election to presidency of Donald Trump in the US, which was the major source of concerns that he would undermine the deal; however, I believe any president in the White House will soften the campaign rhetoric in favor of embracing more realistic approach to the deal, as the situation may demand of him,” he told the press. “Our diplomats and officials have proved to act wisely in bottlenecks; the deal was a testament to the fact that diplomacy would solve difficult problems in international community.” On heavy water production, Salehi said 11 metric tons of heavy water had been transferred to Oman to be sold to international customers; “Iran is committed to negotiation, and would participate in a win-win situation and in line with its commitment to contribute to sustainable peace.”
