U.S. Projected Deployment of THAAD in S. Korea Targeted against China and Russia: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, March 3 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is persistently working to deploy THAAD in south Korea under the pretext of "coping with increased ballistic missile threat" from the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says in a commentary in this regard: The U.S. attempt to deploy THAAD is targeted not only against the DPRK but against China and Russia. The commentary discloses the U.S. sinister intention to persistently deploy THAAD in south Korea as follows: The U.S. advanced the Asia-Pacific rebalancing strategy a few years ago the keynote of which is to lay a military siege to China and Russia and ward off their influences. Pursuant to this strategy, the U.S. is stepping up the arms buildup in the Asia-Pacific region. The U.S. attaches the greatest importance to its deployment of THAAD in south Korea. The U.S. chose the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, the neighbor of China and Russia, as a very suitable region for the deployment of THAAD. The U.S. is pushing the situation in the peninsula to tension in a bid to find a pretext for deploying THAAD in south Korea at any cost. No matter what pretext the U.S. may invent to justify the deployment of THAAD, it can never cover up its sinister intention to neutralize the potential rivals. -0-
