US, South Korea and Japan to discuss North Korea’s nuclear program on May 26-27 in Seoul

SEOUL, May 22. /TASS/. USA, South Korea and Japan will hold talks at the high level next week in Seoul on Pyongyang’s nuclear program, South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday. On May 26-27, the sides will "exchange their assessments of recent events in North Korea," the foreign ministry said in a press release obtained by TASS. "The participants in the talks will also discuss how they can reach substantial progress in the issue of solving North Korea’s nuclear problem by pressure, deterrence and dialogue," the document said. The US delegation will be led by Special Representative for North Korean Policy Sung Kim, South Korea - by Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Hwang Joon-kook, and Japan - by director general of Foreign Ministry’s Department of Asia and Oceania Junichi Ihara.
