U.S. war rhetoric illegal, illogical: Iranian FM spokesperson

TEHRAN,Sept.17(MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Marzieh Afkham criticized the United States for insisting on a military option against the Islamic Republic, saying Washington’s war rhetoric is “illegal and illogical”. Afkham also said that using the language of threat against Iran will not affect the will of the Iranian government and people to stand up for their inalienable nuclear rights, adding that the U.S. should be aware that it can have interaction with Iran only in the language of respect. In an interview with ABC News television on Sunday, Barack Obama said that the U.S. was still prepared to take military action against the Iranian nuclear program, which the U.S. president described as “much closer to our core interests” than Syria’s chemical weapons, according to Guardian. In the interview, Obama also urged the Iranian leadership not to draw the wrong lessons from his decision to draw back from air strikes on Syria in pursuit of a diplomatic solution to the chemical weapons crisis. He said it showed that it was possible to resolve the stand-off over Iran’s nuclear issue peacefully.
