Vahidi: Defense Development Vital For Iran's Progress

Tehran, Aug 22, IRNA – Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier-General Ahmad Vahidi announced here on Tuesday that defense development plays a crucial role in the country's progress. Vahidi made the remarks on the occasion of the national Defense Industry Day. Despite trade sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been successful in designing and manufacturing over 14,000 defense products and is considered as a unique country across the globe in term of defense industry, the minister reiterated. Referring to recent remarks of a Zionist regime's military official, he said such statements are indications to the high capability of Iran's defense industry. The Zionist military official had said that if Tel Aviv wanted to attack Iran, it would have received a crushing response by Tehran. In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems. Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence./end
