Vahidi: A Safe Iraq Leaves Vital Impacts On Regional Equations

Tehran, March 7, IRNA - Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmed Vahidi said on Wednesday that a safe Iraq would play a key role in regional and global equations. He made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Interior Minister Adnan al-Assadi in Tehran on Wednesday. Promotion of stability and security in Iraqi is the need of the time, he said adding that a secured and developed Iraq can leave crucial impacts on regional and global equations. Hosting the G5+1 and Arab league conferences by Iraq proves this claim, he said. ˈWe are pleased to witness that Iraq has successfully overcome most of its problems which proved the capabilities of its domestic forces particularly after withdrawal of US troops from that country,ˈ he said. Regional crises can be resolved through collective cooperation of the countries of the region, Vahidi said, adding that to materialize this goal, regional countries should sincerely made efforts to maintain stability and security of the region. Any insecurity and instability in Iraq will harm the countryˈs neighbors as well as other regional states. The enemies try to weaken or annihilate resistance front in a bid to help the Zionist regime dominate the entire region and for this reason they have targeted Syria, he said. The Zionist regime would be the only winner in current crisis in Syria, he said adding that the Islamic states and mainly Syriaˈs neighboring countries should help neutralize such moves. The Iraqi interior minister, for his part, expressed satisfaction with his visit to Iran and said Tehran sees no limits on expansion of relations with Baghdad and welcomes all-out cooperation between the two countries. He also lauded Iranˈs significant scientific and technological progress. Tehran and Baghdad can play a key role in restoring security and stability to the region, he said. On MKO members based in Iraq, he said they have committed treason by killing Iraqi and Iranian nationals and their presence in Iraq would disrupt security and stability of Iraq. Iraq needs Iranˈs cooperation to promote its security, he said./end
