Velayati: Iran-Russia ties need to further develop

Tehran, Dec. 3, IRNA – Head of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council, Ali Akbar Velayati, said on Saturday that Iran-Russia ties should further develop. He made the remarks in a meeting with special envoy of Russian President, Alexander Lavrentiev. Velayati said that in light of the new developments in the region and the entire world, Iran-Russia relations should further develop. He said that certain states are against relations between the two countries, but, to no avail. He said that the situation in the region, especially in West Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East is very sensitive and efforts should be made for expansion of relations and thwart the threats. 'Our enemies have been trying to sever the ties among states of the region, but, they will not be successful,' said Lavrentiev. 1378/IRNA
