Vice-President Urges Global Community To Seek Ways To End Gaza Disaster

Tehran, Aug 5, IRNA – Global community must urgently seek a decisive way to halt disastrous crimes occurring in Gaza, Iranian vice president for women and familiesˈ affairs said here Monday in a meeting with South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. ˈThe governments should gather together aimed at announcing solidarity and promoting peace, because the women and families would definitely be benefitted from the blessings and fruits of improvement of the world peace and stability,ˈ said Shahindokht Moulaverdi. She referred to the two countriesˈ high ranking officialsˈ meetings on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of South Africaˈs liberation from the apartheid regimeˈs hegemony, reiterating, ˈIn those meetings the existence of high potentials and capacities for comprehensive bilateral cooperation, especially in womenˈs affairs was emphasized.ˈ ˈWe believe there are broad potentials for further expansion of bilateral ties and relations, especially in womenˈs and familiesˈ affairs between the Islamic Republic of Iran and South Africa, and we hereby announce our readiness for exchanging delegations, singing of documents, memoranda of understanding, and the expansion and deepening of cooperation in such fields,ˈ said the Iranian vice president. Moulaverdi commemorated the thoughts and memories of the late South African legendary leader, Nelson Mandela, remembering him as an iconic pioneer of freedom and justice seeking around the globe and expressed pleasure for having the chance to meet one of his fellow campaigners for humanitarian ideals. The vice president for women and familiesˈ affairs referred to the existence of a Joint Iran-South Africa Commission, reiterating she intends to use the high potentials for cooperation in that commission at the service of elevating the Muslim womenˈs status, especially in Iran and in South Africa. Moulaverdi said that the Iran-South Africa Friendship Week will be held in near future, expressing hope that the ground will also be paved for exchange of university students and the activities of the two countriesˈ NGOs between the two countries. ˈWe hope the visits by the two countriesˈ high ranking officials will be held under such conditions that there will be no trace of aggression, criminal acts, and brutalities observed in the world, especially against the women and children,ˈ said the Iranian vice president for women and familiesˈ affairs. The South African deputy minister of international relations and cooperation, too, for her part in the meeting referred to Iranˈs successful and constructive sponsoring of the Extraordinary NAM Conference on Palestine in Tehran. ˈThe resolute stands adopted by the participating MAM leaders in that conference and its ending declaration in which aggression against the defenseless women and Children of Gaza is seriously condemned were among the important outcomes of that conference,ˈ reiterated Ms. Nomaindia Mfeketo. She referred to the South African womenˈs struggles against the apartheid regime and their active presence in the field of political power of their country, reiterating, ˈWe need to use the capacities for bilateral cooperation in the field of improving the womenˈs and familiesˈ status.ˈ The South African deputy minister of international relations and cooperation also referred to holding the Iran-South Africa Friendship Week in Tehran in near future, emphasizing, ˈDuring the course of those ceremonies we can be benefitted from the capabilities, experiences and capacities of the Iranian women for identification of the capacities of the South African women and improvement of their status./end
