Vice-speaker: ICRCˈs Main Duty To Establish Peace In World

Tehran, March 3, IRNA – Majlis (Parliament) Vice-Speaker Mohammad Hossein Aboutorabi-Fard called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to fulfill its commitments concerning establishment of peace and tranquility in different parts of the world. He made the remarks in Tehran on Sunday in a meeting with Head of the Representative Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iran Oliver Martin. ˈThe main responsibility of the ICRC to bring about peace and tranquility in different parts of the world,ˈ Aboutorabi-Fard said during the meeting. The vice-speaker pointed to the numerous efforts of Iran as member of the international community in establishment of peace and tranquility in the region, and said, ˈThe Majlis welcomes the efforts of the ICRC in enhancement of peace and friendship among nations.ˈ ICRC representative, for his part, termed Iran an important country with rich and ancient history and nice and kind people. Martin pointed to ICRCˈs duties and responsibilities, and said, ˈThere has always been constructive cooperation between ICRC and the concerned bodied in Iran and the Iranian parliament can be a valuable backup for reinvigoration of mutual cooperation in the humanitarian field.ˈ/end
