Vietnamese premier’s visit to Russia to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation - Duma speaker

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. The visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Russia will give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation, speaker of the Russian State Duma lower house of parliament Sergei Naryshkin said on Tuesday at a meeting with the Vietnamese politician. "The media are actively discussing your visit, the meetings that you had yesterday in the Russian government, talks with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. It's really a major event in our bilateral relations, which, of course, will give a new impetus to the development of cooperation in all spheres," Naryshkin said. He warmly congratulated Nguyen Xuan Phuc on his election as Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. "It is gratifying that your first foreign visit is paid to the Russian Federation", the State Duma speaker said. The Vietnamese prime minister is in Russia on an official visit. He arrived to attend the jubilee Russia - ASEAN summit, which will be held in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi on May 19-20. On April 7, the National Assembly (Parliament) of Vietnam approved Nguyen Xuan Phuc, 61, as the country’s new prime minister. Read more
