War Victory Day of DPRK People

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- It has been 63 years since the Korean Armistice Agreement was concluded on July 27, 1953. In the 1950-1953 Korean War, the DPRK people won a great victory, inflicting a disgraceful, bitter defeat upon the U.S. imperialists who boasted of the myth of its "mightiness". The U.S. imperialists provoked the war on June 25, 1950 to destroy the just two-year old DPRK. The U.S. hurled into the war more than 2 million troops, including one third of its ground force, one fifth of its air force and most of its Pacific Fleet, troops from its 15 satellite countries, south Korean forces and even remnants of the erstwhile Japanese army. Involved in it were "ever-victorious divisions" and MacArthur, Walker, Ridgway, Clark, Dean and many other "famous" brass hats. The U.S. imperialist aggressors bombed every town and countryside of the DPRK and employed all the war means and methods including use of germ and chemical weapons, squandering a fabulous amount of military expenditure. But they could not break the will of the DPRK people who turned out in the fight to defend the nation's freedom and independence. In the war, the heroic Korean People's Army wiped out and arrested more than 1 567 000 enemy troops, including 405 000 U.S. troops, captured or destroyed at least 12 200 warplanes, 560 warships and vessels, 3 200 tanks and armored vehicles. The U.S. losses in the war were almost 2.3 times those it suffered in the Pacific war during the Second World War. July 27 when the army and people of the DPRK won the war under the guidance of Kim Il Sung, the ever-victorious and iron-willed brilliant commander, will be remembered as the eternal war victory day with Songun Korea vigorously advancing in face of the imperialists' challenges. -0-
