West is presenting a distorted image of Iran: Nigerian FM

TEHRAN, April 17 (MNA) – Nigerian Foreign Minister Viola Onwuliri said that certain Western media outlets have been presenting a distorted image of economic and social conditions in Iran. Onwuliri, who has travelled to Iran for the first time to attend the fourth meeting of Iran-Nigeria economic commission, made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran on Monday. The Nigerian foreign minister said that she was astonished by the social and economic vitality in the Islamic Republic, adding that such an atmosphere is different than what is being reported by certain Western media outlets. Elsewhere in her remarks, Onwuliri commented on the relations between Tehran and Abuja and stated that Nigeria is keen to enhance its ties with Iran in all spheres. Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the relations between the two countries are developing and that untapped potential should be used to help strengthen ties. He also stated that the Islamic Republic is keen to share its experiences with the African country of Nigeria.
