West Trying To Sabotage Iran’s Peaceful N-program: Editor

Islamabad, Nov 27, IRNA – A Pakistani editor on Saturday said that the West is trying to sabotage Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. Talking to IRNA Javed Siddiq, resident editor of daily ‘Nawa-i-Waqt’ said that the West is against Iran’s nuclear program because they cannot see any Muslim country acquiring the status of a nuclear power. Siddiq added that Iran is the signatory of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has every right to develop its nuclear program. The journalist said that pressure on Iran’s nuclear program is baseless and unjustified, adding that Iran is a responsible country and must be encouraged regarding its atomic program. For past many years the West and the US have been leveling baseless allegations against Iran. “They are against nuclear programs of all Islamic countries,” the editor said. Siddiq also objected to the composition of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) saying that there are biased elements in the nuclear watchdog. He added that Iran has been cooperating with the IAEA and following the international law regarding its nuclear program. The editor said the IAEA is losing its credibility. “US and West have orchestrated reports against Iran to sabotage its peaceful nuclear program,” he viewed. He strongly believed that any western move against Iran’s nuclear program will fail. “Sanctions cannot deter Iran from becoming a nuclear power,” said the analyst. Javed Siddiq opined sanctions have proved a futile exercise against Iran. Iran's permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltanieh has said the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano has committed a historic mistake in his latest report on Iran which needs reconsideration. Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaie has said the United States was using the UN Security Council and the IAEA as tools to exercise animosity against the Islamic Republic of Iran./end
