West Will Not Benefit From Discouraging Public Turnout In Iran Elections: Expert

Moscow, May 12, IRNA – Russian expert Sergey Baburin said the western countries led by the US will get nowhere in their attempts to discourage presence of the Iranian nation in the upcoming presidential elections. Baburin, the former State Duma vice-speaker, told IRNA on Saturday that the Iranian nation has well proved in the past 34 years its support for the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic system. He said the Iranians truly understand the political situation in their country and know the roots and causes of the present economic problems. He believed it was too clear that all these problems were caused by the Westˈs plans for a nation which is struggling to cut the chains of dependence and reliance. Baburin said the West wants people not to take part in the elections so that it could say in the world that the Iranian people are mostly against the government and thus prepares the ground for weakening the system in Iran. He said the colonialist nature of the US and its greed for expansion makes it eager to take every measure to swallow the wealth and resources of such countries as Iran, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The Russian expert stressed that Washingtonˈs attempt against Iran are aimed at using the elections opportunity to inflict blows on Iran and encouraging its puppets and agents residing abroad to win the votes of a group of Iranians and create a gap between the nation and the government. Baburin said Washington is simply trying to get to power a puppet government in Iran which, he said, is doomed to failure because the vigilant Iranians will not allow it to be materialized./end
