Western Govts Must Face Legal Action For Inciting Violence In Syria : Iran

Tehran, August 22, IRNA -- The Islamic Republic of Iran Human Rights Commission called on United Nations Human Rights Council to examine violation of human rights by western governments encouraging and arming terrorists to commit violence and crimes against legitimate government of Syria. In a letter forwarded to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, the Iranian Human Rights Commission said that widespread terrorist acts in Syria by those labeling themselves as Syrian free army have created a bloody and regrettable situation for this Muslim nation. Expressing regret over the current human rights situation in Syria, the letter said that the western governments and their regional allies back terrorism and anti-human moves in Syria through financial or military supports playing prominent role in escalating violence in the country. By practicing violence as beheading civilians, burning bodies of victims and perpetrating massacres to mislead the world public opinion, the so-called Syrian Free Army aims to incite sentiments of the world people and promote the notion of the need for military intervention in Syria. Thanking the efforts made by the United Nations Human Rights Council to follow up anti-human crimes in Syria by terrorist groups opposed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the letter called for the so-called advocates of human rights to be held accountable for inciting violence by the terrorists in Syria. These western governments and their allies try to make a regime change in Syria and ignore to consider its bloody consequences, said the letter. The letter urged UNHCHR to specify role of these governments equipping terrorist groups in Syria and should acknowledge the world public opinion about adverse consequences of such practices. The Syrian people deserve the right to enjoy a calm and prosperous life under security and a powerful government and this necessity must be implemented through collective contribution of all political parties, religious groups and tribes, said the letter./end
