West's Flexibility Will Help Nuclear Talks : Iraqi Envoy

New York, April 9, IRNA – Iraqˈs permanent envoy at the United Nations Hamid Al Bayati said here that the West flexibility regarding its anti-Iran sanctions will pave the way for a breakthrough. Exclusively talking to IRNA, Al Bayati said both Iran and the G5+1, including the US, Brittan, France, Russia, China and Germany, should be flexible. The West should show flexibility to lift its sanctions against Iran, he said, adding that Iran will respond to such a flexibility in the best possible manner. The Iraqi envoy also voiced his countryˈs readiness to help settle the dispute over Iranˈs peaceful nuclear program, reiterating that diplomacy is the sole solution to the existing dispute. He stressed that Baghdad is always ready for taking effective steps towards settlement of regional crises. As to Iran-5+1 talks, he said Baghdad is keen to host the talks for the second time. Criticizing delay in holding an international conference on setting up a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, the Iraqi diplomat called for international attention to the issue of nuclear arsenals in the Middle East region. The conference which was initially planned for December 2012 in Helsinki, Finland, was postponed last year at the request of the US, Russia and Britain./end
