World In Dire Need Of Mending Ties With Iran: Philippines Official

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 28, IRNA – The Philippines Deputy Foreign Minister Evan P. Garcia met on Monday with Iran’s Ambassador to Manila Ali Asghar Mohammadi and said all countries in the world are in need of mending ties with Iran. Garcia attached importance to the significant status of Iran in regional developments, calling for expansion of all-out relations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic. Expressing regret over martyrdom of Iranian diplomats in Yemen and Lebanon, he said such terrorist acts should be regarded as a serious threat to the international community. The two sides reviewed expansion of mutual relations along with regional and international developments. Referring to the 50th anniversary of establishing relations between Iran and the Philippines, Mohammadi said that the Islamic Republic attaches importance to expansion of relations with Asian countries. Tehran is determined to broaden relations with Manila, he said, citing the upcoming visit of the Iranian high ranking officials to Manila to hold the fifth consultative committee on consular cooperation. The Iranian delegation is to arrive in Manila on Tuesday. A Philippines delegation comprising members of the country’s chamber of commerce and industry is currently on a visit to Tehran./end
