World Peace Forum : Global Just Peace Prize Must Replace Noble Peace Prize

Tehran, Oct 17, IRNA -- Islamic World Peace Forum said in a statement on Wednesday that Global Just Peace Prize must replace Noble Peace Prize. While acknowledging the history of Nobel Peace Prize, the Peace Forum considered the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize "a war prize". It said that the Forum believes that awarding 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union is doing a disservice to nations, and an act toward concealing the improper economic and political policies of the EU. "The Nobel Peace Prize has repeatedly been awarded in an unreal and political atmosphere, and in order to approve the policies and performances, which not only do not contribute to the global peace and rehabilitation of nations’ established rights at all, but also have worked at the service of the hegemonic system. "With a profound exploratory look, one can find out that the number of cases in which this committee has granted peace prizes to suspicious characters, with black files of committing international crimes, or following the policies of colonizers, is not rare. "Granting Nobel Prize to laureates who betrayed their own peace-seeking slogans and continued the war-mongering, and acted with putting sanctions and pressure on other nations, has disclosed the unprofessional essence of Nobel Peace Prize. "Nowadays, in spite of all the pretensions and claims that Nobel Peace Committee has had and still has, world social peace-seeking movements have independently taken their own path to fulfill their mission, and do not trust this prize and its criteria," the statement said . IWPF added that "In the contemporary world, peace and justice are the real need of nations, which are just defined through independence from hegemonic system and serving humanity and public interests" . The Islamic World Peace Forum invited the NGOs in the statement to establish a Global Just Peace Prize and proposes the establishment of a world committee in this regard. Permanent secretariat of the Global Alliance of Elites for Just Peace established in 2011 in Tehran can be a suitable option for preparing the preliminaries for creating this committee. The World Peace Forum asked NGOs and world intellectuals to act upon participation in this process and reinforcement of the possibility for compilation of criteria and instructions for evaluation of performances and services related to settlement of peace and justice all over the world. IWPF expressed hope that the world, considering the intellectuals and social networks, may be able to find the real path of happiness of mankind under the banner of altruism, moral responsibility, mutual respect, and divine and natural values./end
