World Qods Day Held In Havana

Madrid, Aug 4, IRNA – World Qods Day was held in Havana, capital of Cuba, on Friday. The ceremony was held with cooperation of Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in Havana and Cuba‘s Institute of Friendship with Nations. In the meeting, representatives of Cuban state organizations, officials from different ministries, Islamic and Non-Aligned Movement countries’ ambassadors and diplomats, Muslim community, groups interested in the Islamic revolution, groups supporting Palestine in Cuba as well as social and well-known characters participated in the gathering. Iran’s Ambassador to Cuba Ali Chegini delivered a speech in the gathering. Referring to different conspiracies of international Zionism to weaken true supporters of Palestine, such as Iran, Syria and Lebanese Hezbollah, underlined necessity of support for legitimate and legal government of Syria and respect for civil demands of Syrian people through peaceful solution. He also referred to increasing number of Palestine supporters in Latin America. Another speaker in the gathering was Palestine ambassador to Havana, who praised role of late Imam Khomeini and Iran in supporting Palestine cause and added that holding the gathering with efforts of Iran’s embassy and support of Cuban government and nation shows that the issue of Qods Mosque and Palestine is beyond its Arab and regional nature. Cuban historian Ms. Mariah Dolores Ritz was another speaker in the gathering that talked about wise move of late Imam Khomeini in declaring world day of Qods with Palestine Issue and holy month of Ramadan and called it as the most important element in Muslim unity. Head of Cuban Muslim Federation Imam Yahya called the Qods Day as an initiative for confrontation with world hegemonic powers plots and the Zionist regime./end
