Yemeni health officials commend ERC support for health sector

ADEN, 21st April, 2016 (WAM) -- The Yemeni ministry of health has thanked the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) for its constant support to the health, educational and energy sectors following the massive damage inflicted by the Houthi militias and forces loyal to deposed president Ali Abdullah Saleh, in the Governorate of Aden and other areas. Addressing a celebration to mark the first anniversary of ''Operation Restoring Hope'', Major-General Aidarous Qasim Al Zubaidi, Governor of Aden, expressed gratitude to the Arab Coalition, namely Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The ERC, he stated, had provided medical assistance to hospitals whose services had significantly deteriorated during the war. For his part, Dr. Al Khidir Alsour, Director of the Health Office in Aden, commended the work done by the international organisations and local civil society actors in supporting the health sector in Aden. He emphasised that the ERC had saved the lives of thousands of patients by rendering timely medical assistance to hospitals in Aden. A documentary on the ERC's role in supporting the health care sector in Aden was also screened. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395294452441.html
