Young People and Monumental Edifices

Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Young people in the DPRK have performed great feats in building a number of monumental edifices throughout the country. They have played a vanguard role in socialist construction in each period of the Korean revolution. Among projects they completed were the Haeju-Hasong railway, the Taesongsan Pleasure Ground, Chongnyon Street, extension of Wasandong-Ryongsong motorway, Kanggye Youth Power Station, the northern railway, the Youth Hero Motorway and Hungju Youth Power Station No. 2. The heroic spirit of the young people to devotedly implement the tasks set forth by the Workers' Party of Korea has been carried forward generation after generation. In recent years alone, they made big contributions to building Changjon Street, Unha Scientists Street, the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery and the Natural Energy Institute under the State Academy of Sciences. In April 2016, they successfully completed the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station No. 3 before the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea. The proud feats performed by the DPRK youths would have been unthinkable without the loving care shown by the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu for them. President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il entrusted the construction of important projects of the country to young people, highly praised them for their labor feats and bestowed great favors upon them, seeing to it that many edifices are called by the name of "Youth". While visiting the construction site of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station in April last year, supreme leader Kim Jong Un said: "Patriotism being displayed by the members of the youth shock brigade in the construction site of the power station clearly proves that our country is a power of youth without an equal in the world". -0-
