Zarif Dismisses US President’s Anti-Iran Remarks

Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that the US President Barack Obama should display determination to build trust vis-a-vis the longstanding dispute between the two governments. Zarif said that President Obama has made macho and wrong after his statement to the United Nations General Assembly that the US Administration wants to resolve the nuclear dispute with Iran and assigned Secretary of State John Kerry to go ahead with negotiations with his Iranian counterpart. Zarif criticized Obama for repeating threats in his meeting with Netanyahu and saying that Washington will not lift sanctions. President Hassan Rohani in his address to the United Nations challenged Washington for imposing arbitrary sanctions on Iran and said that the US administration has perpetrated violent action against Iranian people by the sanctions. He said that the sanctions pursued by the western governments run counter to international law and jeopardized the international peace and security./end
