Zarif: Oman FM carried no messages for Iran

Vienna, Nov 18, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said his Omani counterpart Youssef Bin Alawi carried no messages for Iran during his recent visit to Tehran. He made the remarks on Tuesday while talking to reporters upon arrival here. Asked by IRNA that whether the Omani official had any messages for Iran from Washington, he stated that Bin Alawi was carrying no messages from anyone. He said the two sides discussed some issues pertaining to Iran's nuclear program during his stay in Tehran, praising Oman's role as a good neighbor which is exchanging views with Tehran. He appreciated Omani government's decision to host the nuclear talks and said the trip took place within the framework of mutual relations. Zarif is here to attend the 10th round of nuclear talks with G5+1, 10 days before the deadline ends. November 24 is set as the deadline to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement between Iran and the world six powers (US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany.) Omani FM arrived in Tehran on November 15 on a two-day unofficial visit. He held separate meetings with President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif. An informed political source told IRNA that Bin Alawi’s talks with the Iranian officials focused on regional developments and campaign against extremism and terrorism./end
