Zarif To Present Constructive, Objective Proposals To G5+1 Representatives (Analysis)

Geneva, Oct 15, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister and top nuclear negotiator Mohammad Javad Zarif will present “constructive, realistic and logical” proposals to representatives of Group 5+1 in Geneva. Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told IRNA that the foreign minister will lead Iranian team on the first day of the nuclear talks to present Iranian fresh proposals to representatives of France, UK, US, China and Russia plus Germany and that the negotiations will proceed afterwards. Zarif told reporters last week that the proposal G5+1 gave in the former meeting is the matter of the past in wake of the groundbreaking diplomatic campaign Iranian President Hassan Rouhani initiated after the landslide victory in democratic election. President Rouhani blamed the western governments for imposing arbitrary sanctions on Iran over the dispute about the national nuclear program. In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, the president termed the sanctions as violent and to the detriment of the international peace and security. President Rouhani said that the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks win-win strategy in settlement of the dispute with the western governments. He made it clear that win-lose game will not satisfy one party so that such an agreement will not be credible, so that the Islamic Republic of Iran favors the two parties to reach understanding for a win-win settlement. President Rouhani said that the western governments must respect Iranian nation and their choice in the democratic election and heed the Iranian indignation at the arbitrary sanctions which are in contravention with the international law. Zarif left Tehran for Geneva, Switzerland, Monday morning at the head of a political, technical and legal delegation to take part in the new round of talks with the 5+1. The introductory chapter to the new proposal sets the first and last steps and that give-and-take must go in parallel to ensure substantial progress in a timeline set by President Rouhani. Iran is offering quite logical and realistic proposals to practically change of the direction of negotiations from confrontation to interaction. Meanwhile, Araqchi said that Iran will carry uranium enrichment inside the country and will not ship out enriched uranium. He dismissed closure Fordo nuclear site and Arak heavy water reactor either, and said that the level of enrichment is on the agenda./end
