Zarif receives Turkish counterpart, intelligence chief

Tehran, Nov 26, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday received Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and Hakan Fidan Head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization. The Iranian and Turkish officials during their meeting urged the need for protecting the territorial integrity, national solidarity and democracy in the two neighboring nations, Hamid Aboutalebi Deputy Chief of Staff of the President for Political Affairs wrote in a Twitter message. 'They also emphasized putting an end to killings in the region, addressing the refugee problems and taking major steps to enhance regional cooperation,' the Twitter post further read. Earlier in the day, Cavusoglu and Fidan also met with the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. According to Aboutalebi, the meeting between Turkish officials and the Iranian President was aimed at addressing regional issues and crises and exploring joint ways to counter terrorism. 1378/IRNA
