Zarif Stresses Early Formation Of Broad Government In Iraq

Baghdad, Aug 25, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the need for speedy formation of an inclusive government in Iraq. He made the remarks here Sunday night in a meeting with a number of Sunni officials of Iraq. During the meeting, he also highlighted the importance of completion of proper political process in the country. He also explored ways of dealing with political and security challenges in Iraq to safeguard its national security. The foreign minister voiced Iranˈs support for the Iraqi government and nation in their efforts for safeguarding the nationˈs territorial integrity, national sovereignty and the Constitution as well as tackling the existing problems. Zarif arrived in Baghdad on Sunday morning for a two-day official visit. While in Baghdad, he held talks with several top Iraqi officials on issues of mutual interests and regional developments./end
