Zarif Urges Intˈl Community To Stop Israeli Attacks On Gaza

Tehran, July 28, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday called on the international community to stop Israeli crimes against humanity in Gaza. Zarif made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi. In the telephone conversation, Zarif said it is incumbent upon the international community to put pressure over Zionist regime to immediately halt its attacks on the defenseless Palestinian people. The two sides also reviewed the latest developments in Palestine and Gaza Strip, in particular. Meanwhile, Zarif congratulated his Omani counterpart and Omani government and nation on the auspicious Eid al-Fitr marking end of holy month of Ramadan. Palestinian people has called for a legitimate truce including removal of blockade to Gaza Strip and opening Rafah crossing for humanitarian supplies to be delivered to Gaza and guarantee non-occurrence of such heinous crimes. Iran has voiced readiness to ship humanitarian supplies to Gaza and Iranian hospitals got prepared to admit the Palestinian injured people, he said. Iran is also ready to send medical teams to treat injured Palestinian people, Zarif said. Omani foreign minister, for his part felicitated Eid al-Fitr to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Iranian government and people and expressed the hope that continued exchange of views between Islamic states to help alleviate the sufferings of Palestinian people. Condemning re-escalation of atrocities of the Zionist regime against people in Gaza, he called for immediate action to halt such aggressions on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. The two ministers also called the international community to take swift action to lift blockade on Rafah crossing and ship food and medical supplies and urged Egypt to let humanitarian aid pass through Gaza Strip. They underlined the need for continued talks and diplomatic exchange of views on current developments in the region./end
