Z.BAYANSELENGE MP MEETS AFPPD AND IPPF HIGH OFFICIALS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A member of the State Great Khural (parliament) Z.Bayanselenge received last Friday Mr John Hyde, a deputy director of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD); Ms Nora Murat, a Regional Director of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) for East and South East Asia and Oceania Regional Office; and Ms Gessen C.Rocas, IPPF director for public relations and cooperation. Ms Bayanselenge noted that she is satisfied with a upcoming participation of women MPs in the “Beijing+20” international forum which will run Bangkok of Thailand, and said Mongolia wants to strengthen the ties and cooperation with the above organizations in population development, family planning and national development issues. She also pointed out that the unofficial group of women MPs and the National Committee of Gender co-organized a consultation themed “Process of summarizing Beijing+20: Sexual and reproductive rights and health”, and noted that this consultation released a report on the Mongolian population development to be presented at the forthcoming international forum. Ms Murat said she leaned about a "sharp increase in adolescent pregnancy rate in Mongolia, mentioned in the report", and emphasized that it is vital to focus the cooperation on this matter. AFPPD is ready to give assistance to Mongolia, said Mr Hyde and shared views with the MP on further collaboration and offered several proposals.
