Z.ENKHBOLD ATTENDS OPENING OF WORLD CONFERENCE OF SPEAKERS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Mr Z.Enkhbold took part in an opening of the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament kicked off Monday in New York, USA. The opening remarks were made by President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Mr Saber Chowdhury, where the United Nations Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon has greeted the attending parliamentary speakers. Following the opening of the Conference, the Plenary Sitting One started. Reports were delivered by Ms Rebecca Kadaga, Parliament Speaker of Uganda on the topic “Implementation of major recommendations of previous Speakers' Conferences and the growing parliamentary dimension to international cooperation“; by Ms Santi Bai Hanoomanjee, Speaker of Mauritius; Mr Norbert Lammert, Speaker of the Germany’s Bundestag with a topic “Mainstreaming gender equality into the work of parliaments”; and by Mr Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China. During the Conference, Mr Z.Enkhbold has met with Norbert Lammert, Speaker of the Bundestag, exchanging views on current ongoing events as well as inter-parliamentary issues of the two countries. By the Conference’s program, Mr Z.Enkhbold delivered a speech at the Plenary sitting Two themed “Challenges facing parliaments today” to take place at General Assembly Hall on Tuesday.
