Zionist Regime, Serious Threat To Region - Egyptian Diplomat

Tehran, Dec 9, IRNA – Head of Egyptian Interest Section in Tehran said Monday that Cairo is ready to take part in the Geneva II conference on Syria, describing the Zionist regime as a serious threat to the region. Exclusively talking to IRNA, Khalid al-Said Ibrahim Amari said the Zionist regime is the only regime possessing nuclear arsenal in the region. He added Egypt is willing to witness a Middle East region free from nuclear and mass destruction weapons. He urged the Zionist regime to observe the international regulations and open the door of its nuclear centers to international inspectors. As to the nuclear deal reached between Iran and the group of sextet in Geneva, Amari said by signing such a deal, Tehran proved transparency in its nuclear activities. He reiterated that the diplomacy adopted by the new Iranian government assures all world nations that the country’s nuclear program enjoys a peaceful nature. He stressed that all have right to use peaceful nuclear technology. On Tehran-Cairo relations, he said Egypt welcomes Iran's new diplomacy that seeks strengthening ties with the regional countries. Turning to the issue of Syria, he said the crisis in that country should be resolved through diplomacy. Although the international conference on Syria is slated for January 22, 2014, no country has been officially invited to it so far./end
