1st comprehensive disease prevention center opens

TEHRAN, Feb. 10 (MNA) – The first comprehensive center for cancer prevention and patient and family support, genetic counseling, prevention of social pathologies, disabilities, AIDS, and drug addiction opened in Tehran. \ Director of State Welfare Organization of Iran Majid Rezazadeh noted the center was inaugurated with the aim to integrate prevention services in various fields including cancer, AIDS, social pathologies, disabilities, genetic counseling, and psychological support. According to him, all services provided at this center will be completely free of charge and accessible to all sections of the society. Rezazadeh also announced that other cancer prevention centers will be inaugurated in several other provinces in near future. Experts estimate that more than four in 10 cancer cases can be prevented by lifestyle changes, such as avoiding tobacco, alcohol and radiation, keeping a healthy body weight, eating a healthy balanced diet, and being active.
