Antibiotics Not Linked To Slimness

Tehran, June 25, IRNA -- Antibiotics prescribed for patients with infectious diseases will not cause slimness, a nutritionist said. Mehdi Shadnoosh said those who suffer from infectious disease will experience a temporary loss of appetite, adding that some people wrongly link the loss of appetite to antibiotics, according to Wednesday edition of the English-language newspaper Iran Daily. ˈObesity and overweight will increase risk of developing various health problems which threatens the society. It is a multi-factor disorder associated with high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol levels, coronary disease, heart attack, cancer (breast cancer, colon cancer and endometrial cancer), osteoarthritis (OA) and asthma in sleep,ˈ Shadnoosh noted. He said that infectious diseases have a number of side effects, of which loss of appetite and consequently malnutrition cause rapid weight loss, adding that in case of fever the body burns a lot of calorie resulting in weight loss. The nutritionist added that the calories lost because of the disease must be regained through proper diet. He said that in fact each infectious disease leads to weight loss and consequently the bodyˈs metabolism weakens. He noted that secondary infections as the result of malnutrition and decrease in the bodyˈs resistance are the usual causes of death. He said those who have problems in their defense systems or the number of white globules is less than 1,000 must not use raw foods, advising that it is better to use canned fruit. He has proven that when you eat cooked food, your white blood cells increase. This means your body is trying to fight off an invasion. But if you eat the food raw, this phenomenon doesnˈt occur, adding that as soon as the number of white blood cells reaches 2,000, the body is ready to use raw materials./end
