CITY MAYOR DONATES FIVE MILLION FOR LIVER TRANSPLANT

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian surgeons, together with a medical team of ASAN medical center of S.Korea, are planning a liver transplant on a 4-year old in Mongolia on Saturday. The operation will be the first liver transplantation conducted here on a child. The donor for the transplant will be the young boy’s father. The family has started a fund-raising campaign to pay surgery costs of MNT 70 million. Many Mongolians have actively taken part in the campaign, including the city mayor E.Bat-Uul, who contributed 5 million togrog recently. The medical team of ASAN medical center will arrive in Ulaanbaatar on Thursday. The first ever liver transplant surgery in Mongolia was successfully performed by a surgical team of ASAN medical center in 2011. Since then, surgeons of the two countries jointly carried out similar surgeries on 11 Mongolians.
