Cognitive Therapy Module To Control Addicts Wins Award At IJCIMBI 2015

From Zainal Adul Jalil BANDA ACEH, (Indonesia) April 28 (Bernama) -- The cognitive therapy module to control the behaviour of drug addicts produced by a group of researchers on drugs from the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) won a special award at an international event here. UniMAP won the award for the best working paper at the 2015 Award Presentation Ceremony of the International Joint Conference With Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Ireland (IJCIMBI 2015), here. The module entitled 'The Effectiveness of Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Module On Locus Control Among Drug Abusers' was based on a popular technique adopted in the United States (US), England, Australia and several other developed nations. The research was headed by UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin and several other sesearchers from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM). The Raja Muda of Perlis (the crown prince of Malaysian northernmost state of Perlis) who is also UniMAP chancellor, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail presented the award to the Dean of the Human and Technocommunication Development Study Centre (IKOM), Dr Huzili Hussin at a ceremony at the Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia (UUI), here Monday night. Also present at the ceremony were UUI Rector, Marniati M. Kes and Ubudiyah Foundation head Dedi Zefrizal S.T. and Dr Kamarudin. According to Dr Huzili, the module was written based on case studies on 108 drug addicts who had been released from the Pusat Serenti (Drug Rehabilitation Centre) in Kedah, Perlis and Penang but who were still under the control and supervision of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK). -- BERNAMA
