COVID-19 : 117 Positive Cases In Singapore, 81 Discharged

By Massita Ahmad SINGAPORE, March 6 (Bernama) – Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified five more cases of COVID-19 infection in the republic, bringing the tally to 117. In a statement Thursday, MOH said of these, one is an imported case, and the others are part of a new cluster involving a private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong, 333 Boon Lay Way, on Feb 15. The ministry said the imported case involved a 42-year-old male French national who is a Singapore Work Pass holder. He has no recent travel history to affected countries and regions but had been in France, Portugal and the UK between February 8 and March 3. The patient, who is currently warded in an isolation room at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), reported onset of symptoms on March 3 during his flight on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Singapore. Meanwhile, the rest of the new cases, who are all Singapore citizens, are part of the cluster involving the SAFRA Jurong dinner. Updating on the condition of confirmed cases, to date, MOH said a total of 81 cases have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospital. Of the 36 confirmed cases who are still in hospital, the ministry said most are stable or improving while seven are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. As as noon, MOH has identified 3,291 close contacts and of these, 381 are currently quarantined while 2,910 have completed their quarantine. -- BERNAMA
