Human rights prize for Iran health minister

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA - Iran’s Second Human Rights Prize will be awarded to Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi in the year ending March 20, 2015. Payam Tayyebi, Iranian Islamic Human Rights Commission’s director for provincial affairs, said based on studies conducted by the commission, the Health Ministry has successfully attracted the cooperation of various administrative departments and social groups to implement the Health Overhaul Plan, according to Monday's edition of 'Iran Daily'. He added that the health minister has put a number of comprehensive plans into operation nationwide, which have significantly developed the health sector. Tayyebi said based on evaluations made by the commission, the health minister ranked first among other officials with regard to improving public trust in the administrative system. “Efforts made by the roads, education and labor ministries, and the Department of the Environment, to respect people’s right have also been praised,” he said. Tayyebi noted that activities undertaken by several civil organizations for realizing the rights of children and disabled people, addressing social disorders and protecting environment are praiseworthy. The commission is planning to publicize the successful experiences of such organizations to improve the capability of civil organizations and attract public support. Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif won the First Iranian Human Rights Prize last year./end
