Indonesian Scientist Hopes to Promote I-4 as Scientific Envoy

London, Jan 19 (Antara) - Chairman of the International Association of Indonesian Scientist (I-4) Dr Johny Setiawan hopes the I-4 would become an Indonesian envoy in the scientific field at the global level. The statement was made as part of his remarks during the fourth congress of I-4, Achmad Adhitya, the I-4 deputy chairman, informed Antara's London correspondent on Tuesday. Declared in the Hague, the Netherlands, the I-4 was established by the associations of Indonesian students from across the world, Indonesian scientists staying abroad, and Indonesian youth organizations. Its former chairperson is Dr Dessy Irawati-Rutten. The organization has, so far, grouped some 400 Indonesian scientists working in academic and professional fields overseas. The I-4 has set up online college I-4 Talks. The foundation plans to create social and educative projects for the public. Dr Setiawan has been elected the I-4 chairman for the 2015-2017 period, and his deputy is Achmad Adhitya. Setiawan has called on members of the I-4 and Indonesian scientists, in general, to encourage the younger generation to develop a love for sciences. ***4***
